DESCRIPTION:
LaSalle was a brand of automobiles manufactured and marketed by General Motors Cadillac division from 1927 through 1940. Alfred P. Sloan developed the concept for LaSalle and certain other General Motors marques in order to fill pricing gaps he perceived in the General Motors product portfolio. Sloan created LaSalle as a companion marque for Cadillac. LaSalle automobiles were manufactured by Cadillac, but were priced lower than Cadillac-branded automobiles and were marketed as second-most prestigious marque in the General Motors portfolio. Like Cadillac, the LaSalle brand name was based on that of a French explorer, Ren-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle. In its final years, the LaSalle once again became more Cadillac-like in its appearance and details. The narrow radiator grille opening was retained and was flanked by additional side grill work. Headlights, which had moved down and been secured to the "cat-walk", were again attached to the radiator shell. One interesting feature, adopted by LaSalle in these years, was a Sunroof, marketed as the "Sunshine Turret Top". Sales climbed up from 15,501 in 1938 to 23,028 in 1939. The final 1940 LaSalles were introduced in October 1939 with, as it had in its first year, a full array of semi-custom body styles, including a convertible sedan. Harley Earl also oversaw this redesign. The LaSalle emerged with a smooth-flowing design, its trademark thin radiator flanked by a series of thin chrome slots, giving it a futuristic look[.In its final year sales of the LaSalle reached the second highest level ever at 24,133. This particular Lasalle came known to us from a friend in Missouri who had retrieved it from the basement of a St. Louis bakery garage, it has sat there since 1967 exactly as you see it. The paint is original and has some very nice patina to it, we did have to replace the fuel lines and install a battery and she fired right up. We also had to replace most of the brake master cylinders and lines to get her to stop. The Lasalle starts easy, no smoke or engine noises, runs very quite, shifts good and stops will. the only rust issue is seen in the photo it is in the drivers door and is about the size of a thumb, the rest of the body appears very straight and there seems to be no frame or underneath rusting issues. The interior will need work as this is the wool type of material and did not hold up well to the damp dirt floor basement garage. The tires and such are the same as that where on it in 1967, even though they are not dry rotted, they do have flat spots. We are looking to sell the car, so we will work with any shipping arrangement and have a large indoor warehouse for safe keeping, we will not be responsible for the car due to theft, act of God, War, Vandals, or any other thing beyond are control. So we recommend you put insurance on the car once it is purchased please as our insurance will not cover the vehicle once it is sold. We do sell locally and internationally most international shipping is about $3500 Barn find cars of this nature are very hard to find anymore, but sure are some of the neatest things to have. The Title is the original from 1967, we have not had it transferred to our name in order to keep the originality of this all together, if you wish to have this title transferred in your name, please let us know as this takes about three weeks, we can provide a copy of the original for your keep sake of the history behind this find.
